Car parking hoist
A compact car parking hoist installation allows you the very best of both worlds. Not only does it give you access to a professionally designed 4 Post Hoist that enables you to work safely in and around the underneath of the vehicle without straining.
The extra lifting height allows you the luxury of safely creating an additional car parking space, by fitting two cars in one space you have the perfect safe solution for the larger home garage, where perhaps you need to store a second car that you don’t use regularly but still need easy access to – remember the rule of thumb here is that you need the space of one and a half cars to install a 4 Post Hoist, or for paint, tyre and bodywork shops along with any service and maintenance workshop that require space-saving dual work/parking and a compact car stacking facility all in one location.
Weighing in at around 780kg, a typical 4 Post Car Hoist/ parking hoist works off a normal 230v household power supply and can handle a maximum weight capacity of up to 4000kg (which is well in the range of a medium to large SUV) with a lift height of 2100mm all of which can be achieved in 50 seconds, and while a car park hoist can be installed on to a concrete floor using heavy-duty anchor bolts (the posts can be fixed using reinforcement plates if the concrete floor doesn’t have the thickness or strength to stand the weight of four-post hoists) it’s not always the case. In some instances, car parking hoists can be left unbolted and fitted with a special mobile kit that allows them to be moved around to maximise their use. However, it is always best to check with the manufacturer’s safety instructions before deciding if the car-parking hoist will not be permanently anchored to the floor.
When it’s time to purchase your compact Car Parking Hoist, there are a few things to consider before making a final choice, including will there be enough free space around the hoist to comply with manufacturers fitting instructions and to let you work safely, plus don’t forget to check that the hoist comes with an integral drip tray – the last thing you want is oil or fluid leaking down all over the car parked under the lift.
To help you, there are several reputable brands here in Australia and international product that you can choose from but, make sure you buy the lift from a recognised dealer, and that the hoist meets not only with the Australian Standard (safe work NSW) but that the build quality is safe work CE Certified.
